Mine worked great until I tried two cr123a 3.0v batteries. They totaled 6.4 volts, and I later learned the flashlight handles 3.6 to 4.2 volts. The flashlight died within seconds. I ordered a drop-in for it, and am looking forward to using it again. It's a flood light, which is good for biking at moderate speeds, hiking, and, in my case, walking a dog in a bad neighborhood. It doesn't "throw" well, as in lighting distant objects. And the 1,000 lumen claim is excessive. But at short distances it produces an amazing amount of light for such a small flashlight. Also, it's very solidly built.

A great price for a very good flashlight. This is an extremely bright cree bulb. I recommended this light to a friend who is now also happy with his purchase. Your patience is key to finding exactly what you want for the lowest price. Searching through the numerous items at first glance appear similar, but differ in detail if you examine them very closely. Know what you want before ordering.
