The stylus has two ends; one is a blunt end and the other the pointed end. It will only work on the iPad with the blunt end to simulate a finger.

As I understand it, an iPad screen needs a blunt conductive stylus. One end of this stylus matches that description. The other end is sharp and does not work.
The shape of the blunt tip is of a cylinder cut off at an angle, leaving a flat elliptical surface. This doesn't feel like the best shape for gliding over the screen. I imagine that a rounded tip would work better: drag in each direction ought to be similar that way. Since this stylus is the only one I've tried, I cannot be sure that my suggested improvement would actually be better.
Pros:
Works.
Inexpensive.
Perhaps the pointy end would work on another device.
Can be used to keep dirty fingers off the iPad (eg. when used in kitchen)
Cons:
pointless pointy end
perhaps shape of blunt end could be improved
Fingers work better.
If grit falls under the stylus, perhaps the screen will be scratched.
